In 1957, Classics Illustrated teamed with the Boy Scouts of America to publish a selection from what was once arguably the most popular American magazine for boys. In addition to western, science fiction and adventure strips, the book includes how-to craft projects, articles on fishing, breaking codes, and how to dribble a basketball, and a cautionary fiction story about a doomed hiking trip. A very well rounded book—where else can you learn how to make a charcoal grill and how to develop film?—it was most likely a must have on the reference shelf of the 50s American boy.
