(From the Slings & Arrows Comic Guide)
Francis Clunie is possessed of a personality disorder through which he’s convinced he’s Humphrey Bogart in Maltese Falcon mode. The first series has him causing chaos in Glasgow, and comes complete with a glossary. John Wagner and Alan Grant’s hilarious scripts are adroitly rendered in totally deadpan fashion by Robin Smith, making them even funnier. Removing Clunie to the USA for the one-shot results in a diluted Bogie Man, although not without funny moments. That the concept withstands a repeat performance is demonstrated by Clunie’s return to Glasgow and to form for Chinatoon, the Atomeka series. ~FP
