Cheese Weasel

 CHE7   (Side Show, 1991)

™ and ©1991 Jim Ridings

Cheese Weasel may look like a lumpy dragon, but he definitely lives up to the name “weasel.” He runs a combination pizza parlor and law practice where he dispenses subpoenas along with the pepperoni pizza. It’s a rough business, but luckily, his weasel hearing lets him detect the high frequency wail of an ambulance early, giving him a good three-block lead on other ambulance chasers. It’s all a matter of conviction for Weezie, who lives by the personal slogan, “No representation without remuneration!”

Jim Ridings’ Cheese Weasel is just one of the characters that can be found in his Ashpile newspaper strip. Featured here in his own special, we see Cheese at his weasely best. Whether he’s filing lawsuits, peddling sham religions, or running for office as a blatantly corrupt politician, there’s something strangely lovable about a character that is willing to sink to any depth in order to make a buck.
