Roots of the Swamp Thing

Roots Of The Swamp Thing was a five-issue mini-series that reprinted the early Swamp Thing appearances from House Of Secrets and Swamp Thing (1st Series). Among the stories presented here is the Swamp Thing’s tragic origin, created by writer Len Wein and artist Bernie Wrightson.

Alec Holland was a scientist who accidentally turned himself into a massive, limb-regenerating, human plant. It is a tragic story indeed because he can never be with his true love while he is the Swamp Thing. Although she loves him, he can not bear to show himself to her. He is constantly hunted by an evil man named Arcane, who wants to learn the secrets of the Swamp Thing.

This series premiered in 1986 and featured brand new covers by Bernie Wrightson.
