Barney The Invisible Turtle

 BTIT   (Amazing, 1987)

™ and © 1987 Rick Rodolfo

Here is something completely different: an invisible talking turtle who happens to be a detective. The inspiration for this title was the Jimmy Stewart movie ‘Harvey’ where the man talked to a rabbit that no one else could see or hear. This is funny stuff as it spoofs the hard-boiled detective genre adroitly. Barney is a cigar-chomping turtle with a big chip on his shoulder—uh, shell. Barney’s human partner is timid detective Ted Gavan who also doubles as the fall guy, literally, for the dangerous stuff. Ted’s business changes from bad to worse as Barney’s reckless tactics cause more damage than a bull trapped in a closet of china.
