Series continued from Dick Tracy Monthly (Dell) #24

Essentially a morality play, the violent, killer-laden world of Dick Tracy was an unlikely presence in the comic-code-approved atmosphere of late-1950s comic books. It was an even more unusual presence in the Harvey Comics stable which included Casper, The Friendly Ghost and Richie Rich. Nevertheless, Chester Gould’s often-grotesque cast of characters had a long run under Harvey’s tenure and violent scenes were often excised or simply alluded to.

Thirty years later, when Gladstone reprinted Dick Tracy’s adventures in The Original Dick Tracy, all of the bloody and brutal incidents were present in their savage glory.
