The Age of Enlightenment was not shaping up too well for the residents of a town besieged by the Turks. As the cannons roared outside, a small theater company put on a production of the Adventures of Baron Munchausen to cheer the townspeople. In stark contrast to the cold realism of the intellectuals, Baron Munchausen was a man for whom nothing was impossible. He could fly to the moon, romance goddesses, and ride a cannonball into the heart of the enemy forces. With the aid of his four amazing friends, it seemed that there was nothing beyond his capabilities.

As the play began, fantasy and reality blurred for a young girl, and soon she would join the great Baron Munchausen on his grandest adventure. His goals: to save the town, and to restore the new world’s faith in the fantastic.

This four-issue mini-series adapts the cult-favorite movie from Monty Python alumnus Terry Gilliam.
