Maverick (Dell)

Long before he played Jim Rockford on The Rockford Files, James Garner played Bret Maverick, an unconventional cowboy, preferring gambling and mischievousness rather than traditional fisticuffs and fighting. The show aired from 1957-1962, but Garner started appearing less often as time went on, not appearing at all in the series’ final season. In his place his brother Bart Maverick (portrayed by Jack Kelly) appeared and occasionally the Maverick brothers appeared together. Future James Bond Roger Moore occasionally appeared as Beau Maverick, their British cousin. All three appeared at various times on the covers and interiors of the Maverick comic book.
