AIDS Awareness

 AIDA   (Chaos City, 1993)

™ and ©1993 Chaos City Comics

As businessman Arthur Miller heads home one fine Christmas eve, he is blissfully unaware of the news with which his son David awaits him. David has contracted AIDS. Arthur does not take the news well, and after throwing David out of the house in a huff, immediately regrets the decision. In a Christmas Carol-like twist, Arthur is visited by three ghosts, including his own bigoted father, who show him what may happen if he continues to reject his son.

This UK one-shot is intended to increase awareness of AIDS and the plight of people who have the disease. The story is by Steve Lowis and the art is by a Who’s Who of comic talent—with character designs and interior pages by Dave Gibbons, and several pages each by Bryan Hitch, Charlie Adlard, and John Ridgeway, among others.
