In 1968 in the jungles of Vietnam, Lieutenant Tommy Blake is leading a commando team. Blake is a short timer. Only 68 days remain in his enlistment. Each day Blake scratches the number of the days he has left onto a bullet and at the end of the day he shoots it into the air to celebrate another day of survival. Blake’s unit has been ordered to investigate the sudden silence of a listening post deep inside Viet Cong territory, but what they discover is even more frightening than enemy soldiers. The politics of war shrink to insignificance and the number of days a man has left before he can go home becomes suddenly pointless. Advancing the idea that war is not really hell until an element of the supernatural is added, ’68 combines the horror of war with the walking dead. The art is appropriately dark, literally and figuratively.
