Race for the Moon

    (Harvey, 1958)
™ and © Harvey Comic Publications

To capitalize on the US space program and the US-Russian space race, and the general popularity of science fiction and space travel in general during the 1950s, Harvey issued this short-lived series featuring artwork by Bob Powell, Jack Kirby and Al Williamson. Though not a bad book by any means, it’s cancellation was due more to Harvey’s transition to more children’s fare such as Casper and Richie Rich than due to the merits of this series.
