Series becomes Post Brothers after issue #18, returns as Those Annoying Post Bros. with issue #39

From The Slings & Arrows Comic Guide:

Ron and Russell Post are the two people most of us would least like to meet, any time, anywhere. Inhabitants of Bugtown (where, if you die, you just regenerate), with the ability to shift effortlessly between all possible realities, they’re mad, bad, dangerous to know and extremely trigger-happy sadists. On the plus side they are fond of the Bulldaggers, a musical combo that includes their friend Savage Henry (as well as the great god C’thulhu, which makes touring interesting, to say the least). Initially co-scripted by Lou Stathis, from #5 Matt Howarth took over complete control of the strip. Shorter stories are mixed with long epics such as “The Shell Game” (#10–14), which involves among other things Ron being sealed in his girl-friend Jeri’s house by the landlord, Big Al, who’s about the only person the brothers respect. “Video Party” (#17–20) leads up to Ron and Jeri’s marriage and #21–26 has a rematch with the very nasty Hiroshima, who used to be in the Bulldaggers but was ejected for being power-mad.

The stories develop in much the same vein, as the Post Brothers’ reputation makes them hated and feared wherever they go. Russell is always looking for the angle to gain any sort of advantage, and Howarth continues to create imaginative ways for them to kill, be killed or be transformed as they (mis)use their reality-shifting powers. It’s all good fun, but becomes repetitive once you know the characters, although Howarth’s humor and musical references (a very important part of the work) help keep it fresh. His artwork is unique—tight, spiky lines heavily and roughly cross-hatched with few blacks, which gives the book an other-worldly feel. It’s not for the squeamish, and not to all tastes, but it’s worth sampling. Try the 1995 annual, co-written by Nancy A. Collins (there’s also one in 1996) or #27, set at a comic convention. ~NF
