I am about to start to sell some of my collection. Some of my comics are backed but other are not. To sell on Atomic do I need to back them?
Thank you for your assistances.
Also any suggestion where to get corrugate sheets for mailing?

Backing boards are not a requirement. Being responsible for getting comics to the customer securely is a requirement.
I reuse clean empty boxes by cutting them down myself to use in shipping.

"When appropriate, use comic bags and backing boards."
So while it isn't written as a strict rule, I'd definitely recommend that any unboarded items are in shipped in packaging that is as rigid as possible. |

No requirement, but...
A 5 cent backing board can make the difference between a costly return/unhappy customer, or not by helping to protect the comic during shipment. So, it's probably worth it. Plus it may make the difference between the customer buying from you again or not. Lastly it adds just a little bit better look/appeal to the book as a whole, so that's a bonus.
I'd definitely put boards on books over a certain value, and at least on the exterior comics in a small stack/sandwhich of shipped books.
I agree with what the other posters said - especially in that it's your responsibility that the book arrives safely, so do whatever it takes to ensure that, and prevent returns/unhappy customers. |

On the down side, occasionally that 5 cent backing board can raise the cost of shipping by 44 cents if it brings the weight of the package over the next whole ounce. In borderline cases, it could even force you to use a more expensive shipping option. It could be a deal-breaker if you have to ship a large quantity of comics internationally.
Even individual bags are not required, but I always use them. |
