Mouse Musketeers (M.G.M.s)

 MMMQ   (Dell, 1957-1962)

and Dell Publishing Co.

For a time in the late 1950s, the great animated adversaries Tom and Jerry put aside their mutual mistrust in order to serve the French king as Musketeers. At the height of their movie cartoon popularity, M.G.M. Studios sponsored this extension of their film cartoons portraying Tom the hungry cat and Jerry the fleeing mouse (along with Jerrys French nephew Tuffy) as 17th century defenders of France. As in the cartoons, when in France, Tom and Jerry paused their usual hammer and anvil antics and worked together to annoy King, Prince and Country.

The Mouse Musketeers consists of short stories and one-page gags mostly designed for younger readers. Father and son dog team Big Spike and Little Tyke also appear in the series, with their adventures interestingly set in modern day North America.
