sternber's suggestions would be mine. I have generally had very good luck with the grading from both of those vendors. Milehigh codewords can easily bring down the price to something less unreasonable.
You can always try newkadia. They don't have much in the way of oddball stuff, but they do give detailed grading info.
I assume that you have also looked on eBay. Oddball stuff shows up there if you are patient, and for pricey stuff you can always request a scan from the seller (assuming they don't have one in their listing). Using eBay of course means that you want to check their feedback page very carefully, but if they can make a good high res scan available to you then that is a positive sign for a good transaction.
